Caryl Jeppesen, age 89 of Canby, passed away Friday, March 2 at Sunset Assisted Living in Canby. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Satur­day, March 10 at St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Canby. Burial will be in St. Peter’s Catholic Cemetery in Can­by. Visitation will be 4:30-6:30 p.m. Friday, March 9 at Houseman Funeral Home, Birk Chapel in Canby. A prayer service will begin at 6:30 p.m. with a Rosary to follow. Visitation will resume Saturday at the fu­neral home from 9-10 a.m. followed by a procession to the church.
Caryl Catherine Kloster­man was born Nov. 6, 1928 in Woodstock to George and Catherine (George) Klosterman. She went to school for kindergarten through the 8th grade in Woodstock and 9th through 12th in Pipestone. After graduation she went to Normal Training for one year in Canby.
She taught school for one year in Lincoln County and was also a substitute teacher for Marble School. During this time she met her husband Arvin Jeppes­en. They were united in marriage July 12, 1950 and were blessed with eight children. Caryl then began the role of a domes­tic engineer.
Caryl was a member of St. Peter’s Catholic Church. She enjoyed card club with neighbors and friends and was a member of the Marble Marbles Extension Club for 50 years.
She is survived by her children—Mary Jo Knut­son of Fargo, North Da­kota, Connie (Bill) Otto of Canby, Gregg Jeppesen of Hendricks, Bruce (Avis) Jeppesen of Brookings, South Dakota, Lori (Chris) Husby of Canby, Barb Jeppesen of Canby, Karin (Jim) Beer of Hendricks, and Brad Jeppesen of Can­by; 16 grandchildren and 38 great-grandchildren; siblings— Jean (Virgil) Voss of Canby, Lois Gaskin of San Diego, California, and Kathy (Dan) Block of Coon Rapids.
Caryl was preceded in death by her husband Arvin Jeppesen; parents George and Catherine Klosterman; sister Barb (Chris) Christmas; broth­ers-in-law Jerry Gaskin and Jim (Phyllis) Kloster­man; and son-in-law Allen Reiners.
