SWSHH is concerned with improving health for adults age 55 and older

Part I

Southwest Health and Human Services (SWHHS) recently met with LincolnCounty residents concern­ing healthcare for those 55 and older. They conduct­ed focus groups and key informant interviews in Ivanhoe, Tyler, LakeBen­ton, and Hendricks, focus­ing on the topics of active living, healthy eating and tobacco-free living. The discussion findings were recently released. Part one of the results is summa­rized here.
According to a recent Adult Health Survey, SWHHS found that Lincoln County adults 55 and old­er are experiencing high rates of smoking, high Body Mass Index (BMI), High Blood Pressure and High Cholesterol. Based on these findings, they asked the community members about what is happening where they live that con­tributes to those differenc­es.
