Carolyn Stegner, age 75 of Madelia, formerly of southwest Minnesota and eastern Iowa, died Wednesday, Aug. 1 at Lu­ther Memorial Home in Madelia. Memorial service and visitation were 2 p.m. Monday, Aug. 6 at Hamil­ton Funeral Home in Mar­shall. Following a recep­tion, interment was in the Hendricks Cemetery. Visi­tation was held one hour prior to the service, 1-2 p.m. Monday at Hamilton Funeral Home in Marshall.
Carolyn Elizabeth Hoff was born Jan. 31, 1943 in Parkston, South Dakota. She was the daughter of Raymond and Hulda (Fechner) Hoff. Carolyn grew up in Meckling and Vermillion, South Dakota. She graduated with the Vermillion High School Class of 1961. She con­tinued her education and became the first woman in South Dakota to graduate with Inhalation Technolo­gy Certification, which she put into practice at Sioux Valley and McKennan Hos­pitals in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.
On March 30, 1968 Car­olyn was united in mar­riage to Wayne Stegner at First Lutheran Church in Sioux Falls, South Da­kota. The couple shared over 50 years of marriage and raised twin daugh­ters. Carolyn was a loving mother and homemaker and held a variety of other jobs including bookkeep­ing for Wayne’s imple­ment business. The family moved from Wilton, Iowa, to Hendricks in 2000.
Carolyn’s hobbies in­cluded crafts, refinishing furniture, crocheting, col­lecting various treasures, reading magazines, bird watching, and following the Minnesota Twins. She loved all things angels and butterflies.
She was called home on Aug. 1 in Madelia. She reached the age of 75 years, six months, and one day. Blessed be her mem­ory.
Carolyn is survived by her husband Wayne Stegn­er; daughters Brenda (and Doug) Shelton of Clive, Iowa, and Bonnie (and Mike) Bronson of West Des Moines, Iowa; three grandsons—Brett and Col­by Shelton and Alex Bron­son; sister Roberta Styles of Sioux Falls, South Dako­ta; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother-in-law Carl Styles.
