Violet was born on the family farm in Lake Benton Township to Frank and Anna Lindus. She spent her childhood on the farm and later moved to the city of Lake Benton, where she attended and graduated from Lake Benton High School. In 1949 Violet graduated as a Licensed Practical Nurse and worked in the Hendricks Hospital and Retirement Home.
In 1941 she married Simon Thoreson and they had one child, Larry. Simon died in 1958. Violet married Odell Reinertson in 1959 and they had two children, Randal and Annette. After Odell’s death in 2002, Violet maintained a companionship with Harry Hansen.
Violet was a supportive wife and mother. She worked for many years alongside her husband Odell, raising cattle and running his veterinary practice. Violet had two great passions – gardening and collecting rocks. She was self-taught and had a given talent with gardening. For many years, using the flowers from her garden, she prepared floral arrangements for many celebrations, including weddings and graduations.
Violet is survived by her longtime companion Harry Hansen; her three children—Larry (Wanda) Thoreson of Zimmerman, Randal (Geetha) Reinertson of League City, Texas, and Annette (John) Banchy of Tucson, Arizona; six grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren; her brother Harley (Lois) Lindus of Grantsburg, Wisconsin; and sisters-in-law Grace Christianson of San Jose, California and Vivian Eggen of Astoria, South Dakota.

Blessed be her memory.
