David Ramlo, age 84 of Hendricks, passed away Wednesday, Oct. 3 at the Hendricks Nurs­ing Home. Funeral ser­vice was 2 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 7 at Christ Lutheran Church in Hendricks. Visi­tation was held one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial was at the East Hendricks Cem­etery. Houseman Funeral Home-Birk Chapel of Hendricks was entrusted with the arrangements.
David Peter Ramlo was born Saturday, Oct. 28, 1933 in Hendricks to parents Peter and Inga (Singsaas) Ramlo. He was one of 11 children born to the Ramlo fam­ily. He started working at age 11, shoveling coal and pitching hay, and lat­er as a carpenter with his family. He graduated from Hendricks High School in 1951. David proudly served his country in the U.S. Air Force, enlist­ing on Nov. 30, 1951, and stationed in Korea until 1952. David was honor­ably discharged Nov. 29, 1955 and returned home to work with his family.
On Oct. 8, 1959 Da­vid was united in mar­riage to Audrey Col­leen Karstens at Calvary Lutheran Church in Hen­dricks. Together they were blessed with five children. David worked construc­tion with his family, dug graves, and also was a bricklayer. For 23 years David was a rural mail carrier, until he retired in 1991.
David enjoyed hunting, fishing and woodworking when time allowed. Hunt­ing with Black Labrador dogs was something he enjoyed. Watching and listening to sports was a favorite pasttime. He and Audrey enjoyed at­tending their grandchil­dren’s events throughout the years. Spending time with family and friends was most important, es­pecially time spent with his grandchildren.
He was a member of Calvary Lutheran Church and a current member of Christ Lutheran Church. He was also a member of the Rueben-Hansen American Legion, Post 195 of Hendricks, and a member of the Rural Mail Carriers Association.
Grateful for having shared David’s life is his wife of 59 years, Audrey Ramlo of Hendricks; his children—Cynthia (Jerry) Warzecha of St. Peter, Kirk (Ricki) Ramlo of Jame­stown, North Dakota, Jon (Lon Clemensen) Ramlo of Sioux Falls, South Da­kota, Krista Ramlo of Midway, Georgia, and Byron (Carla) Ramlo of White, South Dakota; 13 grandchildren— René, Jared, Trevor and Karré Warzecha; Brandon, Jor­dan, Amber and Kathryn Ramlo; Garret Strickland; and Mason, Kylie, Mat­tilyn and Kyrsten Ramlo; one great-grandchild, Teagan Ramlo; one sister, Ellen Peirce of Sparks, Nevada; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his siblings, and one grand­son, Scott Warzecha.
