Golf clinic to be held in Hendricks

A golf clinic open to any students in third through 12th grade will be held atHendricks Public School beginning on Monday, Jan. 23.
Students in second grade may attend the clinic only if accompanied by an adult.
The eight-week clinic will be instructed by Mickey Buseth and will be held on Mondays and Thursdays from 3:30 to 5 p.m. in the mini-gym.
Parent or community members wishing to volunteer their time to help will be appreciated.
Attendees will learn golf etiquette and proper swing techniques.
Organizers of the golf clinic are asking if anyone has any clubs to loan or donate as well as any portable putting greens or other training equipment for the duration of the clinic.
Special golf balls designed for indoor use will be provided.
While there is a charge for the clinic, it is not a fundraiser and is not put on by Hendricks Public School. However, registration forms containing fee information are available at the school office.

The Elkton-Lake Benton Elks fell to the Madison Bulldogs by a score of 64-53 in the Entringer Classic on Dec. 31.
Leading the mighty Elk offense was Brant Tingle with 14 and Ethan Pearson with 13 points. Tyler and Heath Schindler added seven and six points respectively while Nick Delaney had five, Taylor Rolf four and Braden Carmody and Nathan Krog scored two points apiece.
“I thought we had great energy and came out well at the end of the first,” said Coach Steve Erickson. “We gave up a 9-0 run and that put us in a hole we couldn’t get out of.”
Tyler Wiebe scored 16 and Jesse Brown had 10 for the Bulldogs.
Pearson led in rebounding with eight followed by Tyler Schindler’s six and Delaney and Heath Schindler’s four each.
Tingle hauled in three while Rolf and Carmody each had two boards toward a team total of 30.
Carmody led in steals with three followed by Delaney, Pearson and Krog with two each.
Tingle led in assists with four followed by Pearson and Carmody with two.
Tingle also created five turnovers followed by Ty Schindler with four, Pearson with three and Carmody and Krog with two each to add to a team total of 19.
“Our kids battled back and gave themselves a shot getting as close as four in the fourth,” said Erickson. “It was a good measuring stick and shows us where we need to be.”

HHS takes to the court

Ness selected as Heisman finalist

Four Elks make all-conference team
