This past week, the sixth-grade students from Lake Benton Elementary School had the opportunity to attend a day-long educational Environmental Fair held at Lake Shetek. The Environmental Fair was sponsored by several surrounding area Soil and Water Conservation Districts and had dozens of presenters that provided students with information about the environment around them through hands-on activities and creative theatre performances. The fair had an arrangement of several different sessions devoted to ecology, soils, wildlife and vegetation within southwestern Minnesota. The Lake Benton students had the opportunity to attend many of the sessions offered including Fish, Aquatic Invasive Species, the Water Cycle, Glaciers, Energy, Pollinators and Wind Erosion.
