Edward Carl Perseke was born May 3, 1922 in Colby, Wisc. to Gust andLydia(Dallman) Perseke. On Sept. 25, 1949 Edward married Joyce Doese at Trinity Lutheran Church in Appleton. Edward and Joyce owned and operated Eddie’s Super Valu inTylerfor 31 years. On Saturday, April 14 Edward died at the Avera Heart Hospital in Sioux Falls, S.D.

He is lovingly remem­bered by his wife Joyce; a sister, Doris Wilkening of Appleton, and many other relatives and friends.

Helen Christine (Paul­son) Guida was born to Paul and Molly (Olsen) Paulson on Aug. 28, 1915 on the family farm three miles north ofTyler. Helen married Don Guida at her parent’s home in Tyler on Oct. 26, 1938.

Helen is lovingly remem­bered by her children, Mavis (and Ron) Shriver of Woodbury, Dan (and Sandy) Guida of Red Wing, David (and Kathy) Guida of Tyler and Darla (and Curt) Madsen of Tyler; 17 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; son-in-law Al (and Linda) Carlson of Minnesota City and many other relatives and friends. She was pre­ceded in death by her hus­band Don; her parents; two daughters, Betty and Karen, and great-grand­daughter Payton.

Dorothy Madsen was born May 16, 1921 to Faye Stella (Wooden) Bulling­ton and Josiah William Bullington at Summit, S.D. She was united in mar­riage to Richard Madsen on March 1, 1942. Dorothy died Monday, March 26 in Lakeville.

Dorothy is survived by her two daughters, Barba­ra Bothof of Apple Valley and Linda (and Tom) Hol­ley of Albuquerque, N.M., four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband of 41 years, Richard, her parents, and eight other siblings.

Virgil Nielsen

Virgil Nielsen, age 72 of Lake Benton, passed away Monday, March 5 atAveraHeartHospitalinSioux Falls,S.D.Funeral services were at 2 p.m. Saturday, March 10 at Tyler Mission­ary Alliance Church in Ty­ler. Virgil Nielsen was born Oct. 18, 1939 on the fam­ily farm in ruralTylerto H. Chris and Cumal (Kuhl­man) Nielsen and spent most of his life on that farm. He graduated from Morris Agricultural School in Morris. Virgil entered the U.S. Navy on Sept. 26, 1957 serving as a third-class radarman. He won the expert rifleman medal in a competition across all military branches and was honorably discharged Oct. 6, 1960. On Sept. 5, 1965 Virgil was united in mar­riage to Donna Rae Sim­mons in White, S.D. Virgil was a proud lifelong farm­er. He served on the Ruth­ton School Board for many years and a short time on the Tyler School Board. He was an innovative thinker and his mind was always working. He loved state fairs and eating at various restaurants. He enjoyed attending many of his grandchildren’s activities, loved target shooting and, with his continued expert marksmanship, taught his children to shoot. Virgil had a deep faith and ac­cepted Christ in the late l970s at a Lowell Lund­strom Crusade.

Virgil is survived by his children: Darron Nielsen of Irving, Texas, Greg (Lau­ra) Nielsen of Champlin, Cindy (Jason) Anderson of Victoria and Angie Nielsen of Minneapolis; grandchil­dren Joseph and Abigail Nielsen and Lexi, Payton and Ethan Anderson, and siblings JoAnn (Doc) Klein of Lake Benton and Curtis (Ruth) Nielsen of Marion, S.D.

He was preceded in death by his parents and wife Donna in 2004.

Melvin Bornhoft

Melvin Madsen Born­hoft was born Oct. 2, 1927 to George and Agnes (Madsen) Bornhoft inTy­ler. He was baptized and confirmed at Danebod Lu­theran Church in Tyler. He graduated from Tyler High School. On April 13, 1946 Melvin married Juanita Jaspersen at Danebod Lu­theran Church. Their union was blessed with two chil­dren, Patty and John, and 59 years of life together.  Mel was involved with concrete construction and bought the family ready-mix business in 1969, retir­ing in 1986. In retirement he enjoyed golf and time spent at the couple’s home on Lake Benton. He was a caregiver for his wife for many years. Juanita died in 2005. He moved to Dane­bod Village in 2006. Mel entered Tyler Healthcare Center on March 2, where he passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family, on Saturday, March 10 at the age of 84 years, five months and eight days.

Mel was a lifelong member of Danebod Lu­theran Church, where he had served on the church council. In his younger years he served with the Tyler Volunteer Fire De­partment and the Tyler Golf Club Board. His inter­ests included golf, fishing, bowling, card playing, joke telling, watching sports on TV, visiting and vegetable gardening. He especially enjoyed time spent with his family.

Mel is lovingly remem­bered by his children, Pat­ty Williams of Inver Grove Heights and John Bornhoft and his wife Margie of Ty­ler; grandchildren Christo­pher Williams, Elise (and Jeff) Mademann, Kirsten (and Wes) Carr and Grethe (and Habtamu) Biyadg­lign; great-grandchildren Kalleigh, Abigail and Ram­sey Carr, Leah Biyadglign, Brendan and Myles Ma­demann; his sister Harriet Buhl of Tyler and many other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his wife Juanita, his par­ents George and Agnes and his brother Mike.

Roman Richard Wieme was born Jan. 15, 1971 to Richard “Dick” and Gloria (Erickson) Wieme in Win­dom. He died early Satur­day morning, March 10, at the age of 41 years, one month and 25 days.

Roman is lovingly re­membered by his two chil­dren, Gabryelle and An­drew of Balaton; stepson Riley Engbarth of Balaton; his grandfather Andrew Wieme of Marshall, many aunts, uncles, cousins and special friend Mary. He was preceded in death by his parents, maternal grandparents and paternal grandmother.

Carl Henry Hauschild was born Dec. 16, 1928 to Carl and Caroline (Hass) Hauschild in Limestone Township, Lincoln County.He was baptized at Zion Lutheran Church in Island Lake Township. He at­tended Limestone Coun­try School, then attended Morris Agricultural School in Morris for two years, graduating in 1946. On Jan. 14, 1953 Carl married Eloise Blegen at Bethany Lutheran Church in Arco.Their union was blessed with two daughters and 59 years of life together.Carl farmed all of his life in Limestone Township, where the couple made their home. He served 24 years as a Lincoln County Commissioner, served on the DAC Board, Regional Development Board, RDC Board, Area II, RCRCA Board and many other governmental boards. He retired in 2012. On Mon­day, Feb. 27 Carl died at his home at the age of 83 years, two months and 11 days.

Carl was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church in Arco. He was DFL Chair­man of Lincoln County and served on the Lime­stone Township Board for 10 years. He enjoyed fishing, antique tractors, dancing (polkas), playing cards (500) and watching Molly B. He really enjoyed visiting with family and friends.

Carl is lovingly remem­bered by his wife Eloise; daughters Kaye Lokken (and Paul Hausken) of Bonduel,Wis.and Joy (andClyde) Bruns of Marshall; grandchildren Jennifer (and Lucas) Gregoire and Vicky Bruns; great-grand­children Jared and Gavin and many other relatives and friends. He was pre­ceded in death by his par­ents Carl and Caroline, his stepfather Alvin Thooft and his brother Leroy Hauschild.

Geraldine Mary Meyer was born Sept. 2, 1928 in Arco to Fred and Elizabeth“Lizzie” (Wynn) Bauman. She grew up on the fam­ily farm east of Lake Ben­ton and attended country school. She was baptized atDiamondLakeLutheranChurch, ruralLakeBenton. On Aug. 29, 1947 Geraldine married Harlan T. Meyer at Diamond Lake Lutheran Church. Their union was blessed with 10 children and 59 years of life togeth­er. The couple farmed for 41 years, retiring in 1987. Geraldine was a caregiver for Harlan for 11 years prior to his death on May 5, 2007. She continued to live in their country home. On Feb. 27 Geraldine died at her home at the age of 83 years, five months and 25 days.

Geraldine was a mem­ber of Grace Lutheran Church in Lake Benton where she served with the Ladies Aid, Grace Lutheran Church Women and the quilting group. She was also a member of a birth­day club. She enjoyed bak­ing, sewing, gardening, yard work and especially enjoyed time spent with her family.

Geraldine is lovingly remembered by her chil­dren: Kathleen (and Ste­ven) Nordmeyer of Lake Benton, Barbara (and Dave) Prosch of Lake Ben­ton, Caroline (and Michael) Otto of Lake Benton, Mel­vin Meyer of Lake Benton, Allan (and Anne) Meyer of Zumbro Falls, Rita (and Desmond) Stueven of Lake Benton, Mary (and Don­ald) Kerkaert of Windom, Susan (and Dale) Lozin­ski of Canby, and Sandra (and David) Lacek of Ivan­hoe; 28 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; sister Gladys Reisgaard of Audu­bon, Iowa, and many other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband Har­lan; daughter Betty Lou Meyer; grandsons Chad Nordmeyer and Robert Otto; her parents; three brothers, Robert, Kenneth and Donald Bauman, and sister Marvel Nelson.

Bev Kimball

Bev Kimball, age 76 of Lanesboro and formerly of Spring Valley, died Friday Feb. 10 at her home.

She was born July 22, 1935 in Hendricks to Wal­ter and Mamie (Johansen) Hurd. She attended school and graduated from Lake Benton High School in 1953. She was united in marriage to Leo Kimball on Oct. 24, 1953 in Lake Benton and they had four children. Leo and Bev lived in Marietta, Hendricks,Spring Valleyand Lanes­boro. She worked as the church secretary for Faith United Methodist Church in Spring Valley and en­joyed spending time with her friends and family. She also enjoyed decorat­ing her home, walking, exercising, watching her grandchildren’s sporting activities and was an avid follower of the MN Twins and Vikings. Bev was a member of the Birthday Club and of the Faith Unit­ed UMW.

She is survived by her husband Leo of Lanesboro, son Mike of Fountain and his children Gabriel (Whit­ney), Samantha (Phil), Ca­leb and Rachel; son Dan of Spring Valley and his children Danette, Ryne, Reann and Raalen, and son Todd (fiancé Dawn Lunn) and her children Chelsea and Kiefer. Bev is also sur­vived by five brothers: Ray of Lake Benton,Darwinof Pipestone, Bob (Barbara) ofLakeBenton, Jim (San­dy) ofSpringfield,Mo., and Richard (Corrine) ofSt Cloud.

She was preceded in death by her parents, an infant son, grandson Ben­jamin and one brother, Floyd.

Esther Isabelle Johnson was born to Odin and Ma­rie (Skaar) Myrvik on Aug. 24, 1917 in rural Minneo­ta. She married Kenneth Johnson Oct. 27, 1937. Af­ter Kenneth died, Esther lived at Danebod Village until she entered Sunrise Manor Nursing Home in June 2009, where she died on Monday, Jan. 30 at the age of 94 years, five months and six days.

Grateful for having shared her life are her four children: Kathleen Waltz of Hugo, James (and Laura) Johnson of Hamel, Diane DiPrete of Port Townsend, Wash., and Merry (and Daniel) Duame of Palmer, Alaska; nine grandchil­dren; 10 great-grandchil­dren; brother Raymond Myrvik of Minneota; sister Marion Buska of St. Louis Park and many other rela­tives and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband Kenneth; her par­ents; son-in-law Jerome Waltz; brothers Otto and Arnold Myrvik and sister Myrtle Smith.
