Commissioners hear about Buffer Law

Robert Olsen of the Lincoln County Environmental Office spoke to the Lincoln County Board of Commissioners regarding the Buffer Law. Olsen told the board that under the current governor, the law isn’t going to go away, and at this point the deadline for implementation is November of this year. Olsen said they are hoping to get federal dollars to compensate farmers for acres that are put into buffers. Commissioner Jack Vizecky asked how many acres would be lost. Olsen said, “Not a lot to meet compliance.Olsen went on to further clarify that amount to be about two to four acres.
