Memorial services for Dawn Sturn, age 61 of Flor­ence, are Saturday, Aug. 5, 10:30 a.m. at Sillerud Lu­theran Church, rural Bala­ton. Memorial visitation is Friday, 5-7 p.m. with prayer service at 7 p.m. at Hartquist Funeral Home, Utoft-Johansen Chapel in Tyler. Burial will be in Op­dal Lutheran Cemetery in Florence.
She died Friday, July 28 at Avera McKennan Hos­pital in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.

Dawn Loree Sturn was born July 30, 1955 to Or­ville and Irene Erickson in Tyler and grew up on the farm in Florence. Dawn was baptized and con­firmed at Opdahl Lutheran Church in Florence. She at­tended Florence Elemen­tary School and graduated from Tyler High School in 1973. Following her edu­cation, she worked vari­ous jobs in the area and was self-employed in child daycare. In 1978 she was united in marriage to How­ard Barber and their union was blessed with two sons, Dustin and Tony. In June 1995 she married David Sturn in St. Cloud. The cou­ple lived in St. Cloud and in 2005 moved to Florence. In 2015, Dawn retired due to declining health. On July 27 she entered the care of Avera McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls, South Da­kota. She died there Fri­day, July 28 at the age of 61 years.
Dawn will be remem­bered as a kind person of generosity and hospitality. She enjoyed gardening, fishing, baking apple pies, canning, and especially time spent with her family and friends.
She will be lovingly re­membered by her hus­band Dave Sturn of Flor­ence; sons Dustin (Sandra) Barber of Larimore, North Dakota, and Tony (Reba) Barber of Marshall; grand­children Cadence, Jake, Ca­leb and Zane; siblings Allen (Mary) Erickson of Rus­sell, Bernie (Kathy) Erick­son) of Bemidji, and Brian (Jessie) Erickson of Mar­shall; and other family and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents Orville and Irene, sister Gloria Wieme, brother-in-law Richard Wieme, and nephew Roman Wieme.
