Howard Raymond Niels­en, age 91 of Faribault, formerly of Tyler, died Saturday, Nov. 25 at his daughter’s home.
Private graveside ser­vices will be held for the family at Danebod Cem­etery in Tyler in the spring of 2018.
Arrangements are be­ing completed by the Boldt Funeral Home, Faribault.
Howard Raymond Niels­en, the son of Niels and Dagny (Holm) Nielsen, was born July 6, 1926 in Tyler. He spent his youth in both Tyler and Benson, Nebraska. Howard served in the U.S. Army during WWII. He married Darlene Kruse on June 14, 1952 at Danebod Lutheran Church in Tyler.
In 1956, Howard and Darlene settled in south­ern California after short periods of living in Sioux Falls, South Dakota and Tucson, Arizona. Initially Howard found work at the Douglas Aircraft Company. Later, he began his career as a letter carrier for the U.S. Postal Service in Re­dondo Beach, California, where he would work for over 30 years. In 2011 Howard returned to his home state of Minnesota.
He is survived by his two children, Steven (and Lisa) Nielsen of Torrance, California, and Tanya (and Glenn) Laubach of Farib­ault; five grandchildren— Jessica, Coleman and Dal­ton Nielsen, Erik Laubach, and Tara (and Tristan) Reynolds; and two great-grandchildren, Hunter and Hazel Reynolds.
He was preceded in death by his parents, step­father Jim Jensen, and sis­ter Dorothy (Nielsen) Wi­ering.
