Memorial services for Darrel Denney, age 86 of Tyler, are Saturday, Feb. 10, 11 a.m. at First English Lutheran Church in Ty­ler. Visitation is one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be in Danebod Lutheran Cem­etery in Tyler.
He died Saturday, Feb. 3 at the Pipestone County Medical Center in Pip­estone.

Darrel I. Denney was born Aug. 28, 1931 to Ralph and Vivian (Ram­sey) Denney on a farm in Petersburg Township, Jackson County, Minne­sota. He was baptized in the Presbyterian church in Alpha. He grew up on the farm and attended Alpha Public School and Jackson High School, graduating in 1949. On Dec. 17, 1950 Darrel married Beverly Musegades at Trinity Lu­theran Church in Alpha. Their union was blessed with four children and 67 years of life together. He entered the U.S. Army in January 1951 and was honorably discharged in September 1953. Follow­ing his discharge he went to work for Cargill, work­ing in Windom and Breck­enridge, and Hankinson, North Dakota before mov­ing to Lennox, South Dako­ta. There he joined Golden Sun Feeds for 22 years. In 1969 the couple moved to Tyler. In 1986 he became a bus salesman for Olson and Johnson, retiring in 1995.
Darrel was a member of First English Lutheran Church in Tyler where he sang in the choir and served on the church council. He was a member of A.C. Hansen American Legion Post 185 in Tyler. He had served as both Councilman and Mayor of Tyler, as Lake Shore Zon­ing Administrator, on the Tyler School Board, Dane­bod Village Board, ECSU Board at Southwest State University in Marshall and the Southwest Minnesota Regional Development Corporation. He was also a member of the Tyler Ki­wanis Club.
Darrel is lovingly re­membered by his wife Beverly; his children— Terry (Debra) Denney of Ridgecrest, California, Lori (Mike) Stewart of Sioux Falls, South Dakota, Scott (Rhonda) Denney of Sioux Falls, South Dakota, and Todd (Nicole) Denney of Forsyth, Illinois; seven grandchildren—Aimee (Trent) Urban, Brice (Kas­sandra) Denney, Michaela Denney (Julian Moore), Larisa Denney, Logan Den­ney, Kieran Denney and Megan (Derek) Johnson; five great-grandchildren— Gavin, Alex and Rylan Urban, Ayleah Moore, and Liam Johnson; step-siblings Burnell (Glennis) Bacon of Tucson, Arizona and Ione Grouwe of Mid­land, Texas; and many oth­er relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents Ralph and Viv­ian Denney, stepmother Ethel Denney, and sister and brother-in-law Ardyth and Marvin Ford.
