City responds to public outcry on blighted properties

In response to concerns voiced during the public forum of last week’s Tyler City Council meeting, a special meeting was held to discuss the problem of blight mitigation in the city. To open the meeting, Mayor Greg Peter read a statement to the council and over two dozen citizens on hand for the meeting.
“This is considered an inter-office discussion between the council and the city staff. There will be an opportunity for public comments after our discussion. Being that the majority of the council is here in attendance, the law requires the ability for the public to comment for those who attend this meeting. At this time, I would like to request that everyone remain silent during our council discussion.
