Glenn H. “Freddie” Fred­eriksen, age 91 of Post Falls, Idaho, passed away Jan. 31 at Hospice of North Idaho.
The son of Herluf and Anna Frederiksen, Glenn was born July 21, 1926 in Tyler. He married the love of his life, Harriet Bille, on Oct. 8, 1950 at Danebod Lutheran Church in Ty­ler. Over the 67 years that Glenn and Harriet were married, they lived in Minnesota, South Dakota, Montana and Idaho.
Glenn proudly served in the U.S. Army from Feb­ruary 1945 to December 1946, and while com­pleting his overseas ser­vice, he received several decorations and citations. Glenn was a highly skilled carpenter and had a long and successful career as a building contractor. Hunting and fishing were Glenn’s passions, as well as being a faithful fan of the Seattle Mariners and Minnesota Twins. (His beloved pet dog Tony was named after Twins player Tony Oliva). He was also a member of the American Legion for 72 years.
Glenn is survived by his wife Harriet Frederiksen of Post Falls, Idaho; daugh­ters Loretta Pontier and husband Jim of Spirit Lake, Idaho, Janie Hirth of Hel­ena, Montana, and Colleen Oliver and husband Leon­ard of Seattle, Washington; grandchildren Erika Whin­ihan, Derek Hirth, Kristen Diede, Jeffrey Oliver, Dana Frederiksen and Erin Hirth; great-grandchildren Marques Davis, Allison Diede, Evan Hirth, Dan­iel Diede, Laeyla Brooks, Cameron Hirth and Ellis Whinihan; his sister Mer­na Steger-Graziano (who he adored) and brother Robert Frederiksen. Glenn was preceded in death by his son Wayne Frederik­sen and brother Don Fred­eriksen.
A memorial service, offi­ciated by Pastor Dan Fors­gren, was held Monday, Feb. 5, 1 p.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church, 812 N. 5th Street, Coeur d’Alene, Idaho. His ashes were bur­ied at the State Veterans Cemetery in Medical Lake, Washington.
