Funeral services for Le­Roy Olsen, age 66 of Tyler, will be Friday, July 6, 11 a.m. at Hartquist Funeral Home in Tyler. Visitation is Thursday, 4-7 p.m. at Hartquist Funeral Home in Tyler. Interment will be private.
He died Saturday at Ave­ra McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.

LeRoy Dennis Olsen was born May 19, 1952 in Ty­ler to Andrew and Vivian (Fuhrmann) Olsen. He at­tended Tyler High School, graduating in 1970. Le­Roy enlisted in the U.S. Army and worked as Mili­tary Police. Following his honorable discharge, he worked in law enforce­ment and construction in Lincoln County. On Aug. 1, 1980 LeRoy was united in marriage to Beth Weck­ert. Their marriage was blessed with two children, Matthew and Samantha, and 37 years of life togeth­er. For a short time the cou­ple lived in Ivanhoe, until they moved to the family farm in 1982 to pursue his passion of farming. It was there that they raised their two children.
On June 30 LeRoy passed away surrounded by fam­ily and friends at Avera McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls, South Dakota at the age of 66.
LeRoy loved spend­ing time on the farm and checking his fields regu­larly. He enjoyed going to the casino and annual trips to Las Vegas. He es­pecially liked spending time and travels with fam­ily. He will be remembered for his generosity and jok­ing nature.
Survivors include his wife Beth of Tyler; his two children, Matthew (Ka­Saundra) Olsen of West Fargo, North Dakota, and Samantha Olsen (John Ruud) of Chester, South Dakota; four siblings— Dorothy (Dan) Petersen of Owatonna, Roger (Pam) Olsen of Shoreview, Dale (Chris) Olsen of Las Vegas, Nevada, and Doris Olsen (Jesus Jiminez) of Hender­son, Nevada; Uncle Nor­man; aunts; many nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents Andrew and Vivian Olsen.
The family wishes to thank the support they received from family and friends during LeRoy’s six-month battle with pancre­atic cancer. LeRoy’s family will be directing memori­als toward pancreatic can­cer research.
