Knights battle but fall short in quarterfinal round, 27-26

It was cold and windy last Friday in New Ulm as the RTR Football Knights and the Spring Grove Li­ons took the field in the first round of the nine-man state tournament. The temperature at game time was 17 degrees and the wind was out of the north about 25 mph.
The Lions were the 2017 champions and had a 25-game winning streak at game time. The Knights were 8-3, but were playing their best ball of the year, outscoring their three sec­tion opponents by a 150 to 22 margin.
