Memorial service for Ju­lie Nielsen-Fuhrmann will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Dec. 3 at Lutheran Church of Peace in Maplewood. Visitation will be one hour before service at the church.
Julie Nielsen-Fuhrmann was born Oct. 1, 1951 to Elmer and Edith (Eskov) Nielsen in Tyler. She was baptized and confirmed at Danebod Lutheran Church in Tyler. She at­tended school in Tyler and graduated from Tyler High School in 1969. After high school, she went on to re­ceive her Bachelor’s De­gree in Home Economics from Mankato State Uni­versity in 1973.
On Dec. 11, 1982, Ju­lie married Frederick Fuhrmann at Danebod Lutheran Church. They had two sons, Aaron and Christopher. After mar­riage, Julie and Fred made their home in Marshall.
After moving to Wood­bury in 1994, Julie began working at the Minnesota State Department of Edu­cation. She earned her Master’s Degree from Con­cordia University, St. Paul, in 2008. She worked for the Department of Educa­tion for 20 years and re­tired in January 2018.
She enjoyed serving her church communities by teaching and as superin­tendent of Sunday School at Lutheran Church of Peace. Julie was an avid reader, baker, seamstress, homemaker and garden­er. She always made her house a home and wel­comed visitors with deli­cious food and coffee.
On Saturday, Nov. 24, Ju­lie Ann Nielsen-Fuhrmann died peacefully and sur­rounded by family at the University of Minnesota Hospital in Minneapolis.
She is survived by her husband Frederick and son Christopher; brother Alan and wife Susan of Richfield; sister-in-law Jan Nielsen of Tyler; nephews and nieces: Scott and wife Tara Nielsen of Moorhead; Shanna and husband Todd Kooker of Spencer, Iowa and their sons Chase, Blake and Zachary; Sara and hus­band Allan Mortensgaard of Holstebro, Denmark and their children McKen­sie and Kayden; and Will Nielsen and Lisa Nielsen of Richfield.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Roger, and her son Aaron.
