JoAnn “Jo” Louise (Kid­man) Will was born June 22, 1946 to Thomas and Edna Kidman in Tyler. She passed away on Jan. 17 at the age of 73, after a brave five-year battle with can­cer.
Her Celebration of Life will be held at the Arbore­tum in Chanhassen on May 31 from 2-5 p.m.
Raised on a dairy farm in southwestern Minne­sota, Jo was a gifted mu­sician and played organ in her country church, Ellsborough Lutheran, for six years beginning at the age of 12. She graduated from Ruthton High School in 1964 and furthered her education at Augustana College, graduating in 1968. Later she earned a special education degree from the University of St. Thomas. Jo taught in the Bloomington School Dis­trict during her 35-year teaching career and re­tired in 2008. She taught at the elementary level, then special education at both the elementary and junior high levels. She was a beloved teacher.
Jo married Jake Will and their son Michael was born in 1980. Jo loved spend­ing time with her family and friends. Feeding the birds, gardening, spend­ing time at the arboretum, and baking were among her favorite pastimes. She was a sports enthusiast and enjoyed watching the MN Twins, Gophers and Vikings.
Jo is survived by her beloved son, Michael; her sister Janice Stratton and brother Richard Kidman; as well as her many nieces and nephews, their chil­dren and other relatives. She was preceded in death by Jake Will, her parents Thomas and Edna Kidman, and brother T. David.
She will be deeply missed.
