Kelly Hartson, age 63 of Tyler, formerly of Moor­head, died peacefully on Wednesday, June 10 at Sun­rise Manor Nursing Home in Tyler. A memorial visi­tation was held Monday, June 15, 10 a.m.-12 p.m. at Hartquist Funeral Home – Tyler Chapel. Following the visitation, funeral service and burial took place at the Woodstock Cemetery in Woodstock at 12:30 p.m. Military Honors were pre­sented by Woodrow Wil­son American Legion Post 506 of Ruthton.

Kelly Mark Hartson was born in Tyler to Donald and Rosmary (Reese) Hartson on Oct. 3, 1956. He spent his childhood in Ruthton and attended Ruthton Public School through 10th grade. He joined the National Guard, where he served for a number of years before enlisting with the United States Navy. Af­ter four years of service he was honorably discharged. At that time, he worked for awhile in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, then moved to Moorhead, where he was doctoring for his dis­abilities with the VA Hos­pital. A few months ago he was diagnosed with can­cer and had been receiving treatment in Fargo, North Dakota. On Memorial Day weekend he moved to Ty­ler to be closer to relatives, then into Sunrise Manor Nursing Home in Tyler. He died there on Wednesday, June 10 at the age of 63 years, eight months and seven days.
Kelly was baptized on March 10, 1957 at Russell Lutheran Church in Rus­sell. He was confirmed in the Lutheran faith on May 14, 1972 at Peace Luther­an Church in Ruthton.
Kelly is lovingly remem­bered by his mother, Ros­mary Hartson of Balaton; five siblings— Virginia (Randy) Schulte of Tyler, Amber Hartson of Rus­sell, Rose (Dan) Roberts of Oakdale, Rodney (Clara) Hartson of Ruthton, and Ricky Hartson of Revere; and numerous nieces, nephews, other family members and friends.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents Lester and Nona Hartson and John and Ethel Reese; his father, Donald Hartson; one brother, LeRoy; and an infant sister, Darles.
